About Masechta Tamid · מסכת תמיד
Tamid describes, step by step, a day of avodah in the Beis HaMikdash and the korban tamid brought every morning and every afternoon.
It opens with the three places where the kohanim kept watch at night and follows them as they rose before dawn, immersed, and drew lots for the day's avodah: who would clear the ashes from the mizbe'ach, who would shecht the lamb, who would carry its parts up the ramp, who would clean the menorah and the inner mizbe'ach, and who would bring the ketores. It records the call of the memuneh to see whether the time of shechitah had come, and the answer that the whole east was lit up to Chevron. The lamb is brought from the chamber of lambs and given water from a golden cup, and the kohanim gather in the Lishkas HaGazis to say the Shema, the Ten Commandments and the brachos with the people.
The last perakim tell of the ketores, Birkas Kohanim from the steps of the Ulam, the wine poured with the Levi'im's song, and the song of the day the Levi'im sang for each day of the week, ending with 'a song for the day that is all Shabbos'. Its Gemara also brings the ten questions Alexander the Great asked the elders of the south.
This page holds 8 shiurim on Masechta Tamid from 2 maggidei shiur; the most come from Rabbi Eli Stefansky (6) and Rabbi Asher Vaknin (2). 6 of them learn the whole daf and 2 are short reviews. 6 dafim have their own shiurim here, each in its own row above, and “Learn in the Daf Room” opens that daf with its text and its shiurim side by side.
Masechta Tamid in the Daf Yomi
The 14th Daf Yomi cycle reaches Masechta Tamid on March 16, 2027 and learns it one daf a day for 8 days, from daf 26 to daf 33, finishing on March 23, 2027. Masechta Tamid is in Seder Kodashim, the fifth of the six orders of the Mishnah, and in the order of the Daf Yomi it comes after Masechta Kinnim and before Masechta Middos. On each of those days the Daf Room opens the day's daf with its text and every shiur on it, and the rows above keep the shiurim of every daf of the masechta for anyone who learns at his own pace.
The perakim of Tamid
Masechta Tamid has seven perakim, from daf 25b to daf 33b. Each perek below opens its first daf in the Daf Room, where the Gemara’s text and every shiur on that daf sit together.
