About Masechta Meilah · מסכת מעילה
Me'ilah learns the sin of me'ilah - making ordinary use of what belongs to the Beis HaMikdash - and the korban asham and the added fifth that one who did so by mistake must pay.
Its first perakim learn from when each kind of korban is under me'ilah and until when, the bird offerings, the blood, and holy things after their mitzvah was done. The fourth perek learns how small amounts of different holy things join to reach the measure of a perutah. The fifth perek, HaNehneh Min HaHekdesh, learns benefit from hekdesh - wearing a holy garment, using a holy vessel - and the sixth a shaliach who did me'ilah on his sender's errand, or did otherwise than he was sent: who bears the sin, the one who sent or the one who went.
The Gemara also tells of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai's journey to Rome with Rabbi Elazar bar Rabbi Yose to annul a decree against Shabbos, milah and family purity.
From the pages of Meilah
Before Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai went to Rome, Rabbi Reuven ben Istrubli had cut his hair like a Roman, sat among them and argued them into annulling the decrees, until they found out he was a Jew and brought the decrees back. On the way Rabbi Shimon wept: an angel was sent three times to the maidservant of his father's house, and to him not even once - let the miracle come as it will. Ben Temalyon went ahead into the emperor's daughter; when Rabbi Shimon called 'Ben Temalyon, come out', it left her, and they were told to take whatever they wanted from the treasury - they found the decree and tore it. The Mishnah teaches that one who benefits a perutah's worth from hekdesh has done me'ilah even if he did not damage it, the words of Rabbi Akiva, and that there is no me'ilah after me'ilah in holy things except an animal and the vessels of the avodah.
