Rebbe Nachman teaches that the snake’s bite is sadness and laziness. When sadness takes hold of a person, he can quickly fall into thoughts that Hashem doesn’t love him or doesn’t want him. These thoughts distance a person from Hashem and weaken his ability to move forward. The antidote to the snake’s venom is emuna and spiritual awareness. The forgiving are forgiven. 🤝🏽 If someone suffers because of you – even if you’re right, no matter what the reason – you’ll ultimately suffer. Why? Your unwillingness to forgive causes the Heavenly Court to closely examine your own files and determine if you deserve the forgiveness and lenient the Hashem has given you. As well, the actions of an unforgiving person who is angry and seeks revenge show that he lacks emuna. To be forgiven above one must be forgiving below. And a person who doesn’t forgive others locks the door to his own forgiveness.
