Shabbat Shalom! Parashat Vayeira 💙 In this week’s parasha, Avraham Avinu teaches us one of the most powerful foundations of emunah: Hashem’s wisdom is infinite, while our understanding is limited. The Akeidat Yitzhak was Avraham’s tenth and final test. After being promised that his descendants would come through Yitzhak, Avraham was commanded to offer that very son as a sacrifice. How could these two Divine messages possibly coexist? This was the ultimate test of emunah. Avraham was faced with something that contradicted everything he understood, yet he chose to place Hashem’s will above his own reasoning. In doing so, Avraham corrected the mistake of Adam HaRishon, who had chosen his own understanding over Hashem’s command in Gan Eden. And this is the spiritual inheritance Avraham passed down to every Jew. Throughout generations of exile, suffering, and seemingly impossible circumstances, the Jewish people have held on to Hashem, even when the path before them made no logical sense. This is the strength of true emunah. It is the deep understanding that Hashem is the ultimate source of truth, and that His will is always greater than what the human mind can comprehend. Every mitzvah, every challenge, and every circumstance we encounter is an opportunity to draw closer to our loving and compassionate Creator. May we merit to strengthen our emunah, surrender our limited understanding to Hashem’s infinite wisdom, and recognize that His will is always guiding us toward the greatest good. In this week’s parasha, the search for Yitzhak’s soulmate reminds us that a match is ultimately arranged by Hashem Himself. No matchmaker, circumstance, or human effort can replace His guidance. And here lies a powerful lesson in emuna: Hashem is a loving Father who desires the happiness of His children. When prayers seem unanswered, the greatest challenge is to protect that certainty. Doubt turns waiting into despair, while emuna transforms waiting into an opportunity for prayer, gratitude, and spiritual growth. Even the work of correcting ourselves must begin with the understanding that Hashem loves us and wants to help us succeed. The foundation of every salvation is the certainty of Hashem’s love.
