What’s said in this shiur

The opening of this shiur, in Rabbi Oster Gemara Shiur’s own words — taken from the captions, so names and Hebrew terms may be approximate.

We begin the Gemara today on the floor of Amittai, on the base by 15-20 lines up from the bottom of the Amud where it says "Marei Basra". The Gemara before was discussing the halacha regarding a person that got captured and he left his property without anyone to take care of it, whether you allow a relative to go and work in that property. And if the relative works in the property while this person is away, and then he comes back home, what is this worker, this relative that worked there, get paid like? And the Gemara before said he gets paid like a artist, like a sharecropper. He gets a fair share of what he invested and so on. In connection to this Gemara brings another story which eventually Gemara will ask on the story from this halacha that I just mentioned. As Rashi says, what happened is Marei Basra moved with his father to Chazai and there his father gave birth to a another child, his brother, but Marei Basra himself moved away when this child was very young. And now, after the father passes away, it's years later and his brother shows up. Amalei, so his brother says to Marei Basra plainly, "Divide the inheritance with me." Amalei, so Marei Basra looks at him and says to him, "Lo Yadain alach, I don't recognize you." He says he says that you're not my brother. As committed of Chista, so they came to Chista to ask about this case. Amalei, so Chista says to the brother that showed up, "Shabbek amalach, what he's
