Okay, we begin today a new paydek and off mem base amud aleph, the paydek of el treifos. So, the majority of this paydek is going to be discussing the halachas of the treifos of an animal. And most of them are halacha l'Moshe miSinai. The Mishnah here lists 18 treifos that there are regarding the body of the animal. There's additional numbers that we'll see later in the paydek here. There's eight general category of of treifos. In total, I believe it says that there's 70 individual treifos possible in the 70 individual treifos possible in the body of an animal. So, what's the meaning of the treifos? The treifos is when the animal has a mortal defect that will cause it, according to one opinion, to die over a short period of time, within 12 months. This itself is actually a machlokes, we'll see further here in the paydek. And when one eats from an animal which is a treifa, there's a lav, "basar basar treifa lo y'eichel." The treifos that it says in the Mishnah are very specific, very unique. It's not just anything that you could come up with with any medical with any medical with with any medical with any medical uh conclusions, but it's all halacha l'Moshe miSinai. There's a famous thing that the Rambam says in Hilchos Shchita that if anyone has any other way of coming up with additional treifos, or maybe today with medical things you could say, "Well, this is not a treifa." None of that is relevant. The treifos go by what the halacha l'Moshe miSinai is and what's mentioned in Chazal, even if to us it seems like that these things are not going to cause a real defect in the animal, it doesn't matter. These are the treifos that we have as halacha
