I want to introduce you tonight to an incredible personality. Someone who is one of the greatest of his generation and later on became not so great. And that's surprising that we base an entire Shiur on the life of someone who was incredibly great and turned out to be not so. I'm talking about none other than Elisha ben Avuya. ben Avuya. In Mishna Pirkei Avot they tell us an incredible idea in the name of Elisha ben Avuya. And the idea is Halomed Yeled, somebody that learns when he's young it is domeh to Na'ar Ni'ar Hadash. The information is clear. It's as if the information was written on a very clean and clear piece of paper. Halomed Halomed Zaken someone who's first learning when they're much older then already the learning is more like Ni'ar Machuk. It's like a paper that was written and erased and written and erased. It's not as clear. It's not as bolet. And because of that it's more like a learning that one learns and they forget. Now, at first when you hear this particular statement from Elisha ben Avuya, it sounds very from Elisha ben Avuya, it sounds very depressing. It sounds like that if someone did not learn Torah when they were young and they first start learning later their learning is not going to be that easy. It's a very depressing message. It sounds like that when you were young you learned Torah it was clear, it stays with you. A clean piece of paper, the words are clear. Has keyum.
