hi my name is alisa minkin i'm a general pediatrician and i'm also co-chair of the jewish orthodox women's medical association preventative health committee and i'm really excited to be here tonight with dr ellie carmody who's done this a number of times with me thank you so so much for doing this you're very welcome dr carmody is an infectious disease physician she received her medical degree from mount sinai school of medicine and a master's of public health from columbia university she completed her residency in internal medicine at new york presbyterian medicine at new york presbyterian hospital columbia university medical center and her fellowship in infectious disease at nyu school of medicine she is currently an assistant professor in the department of medicine at nyu grossman school of medicine and is the director of infectious disease clinic at bellevue hospital center so we're here tonight to talk about the upcoming covid19 vaccines you know the new term is the light at the end of the tunnel i've been starting to say this over and over and over and i really like that i find it very reassuring that there is a light at the end of the tunnel a light at the end of the tunnel um so let's start with just what's out there i know there are so many potential vaccines can we start with just talking about the ones that are most likely sure so the one of course which is uh you know pending the fda approval and review it two days from now on december 10th is the pfizer vaccine and very soon after that the modern vaccine and that's on uh i believe the the meeting is on december 17th and if those proceed well those will be um
