Hi everyone. I'm Julie Wilcox. I'm going to be moderating the discussion today with Dr. Deerra Tobias. First, I'd just like to tell those of you who are not fully familiar with JOMA about this organization and then I'll go into our bios and finally into our discussion. The Jewish Orthodox Women's Medical Association is a dynamic organization of over 800 Jewish women physicians and physicians to be who serve the community physicians to be who serve the community by providing free, culturally sensitive, and accessible health information and resources for the Jewish community. Our members span nearly every medical specialty and serve as a brain trust by acting as liaison between the community and health stakeholders including government and hospitals through education, mentorship and advocacy. JMA empowers its members, promotes health and well-being within our and promotes health and well-being within our communities. Our vision is wellness for JOMA. I'm a ad ajun professor of human nutrition and the author of the win-win diet. As a holistic wellness coach and consultant, my work centers on physicians, patients, and medical students. I'm a member of the Harvard Tchan School of Public Health Nutrition Round through which I had the opportunity connect to connect with our amazing speaker tonight, Dr. Deerra Tobias. Dr. Dr. Deerra Tobias is a nutrition epidemiologist at the Bigham and Women's Hospital and and Harvard leading research in nutrition, obesity, and research in nutrition, obesity, and chronic disease prevention. Dr. Tobias's work focuses on the long-term health impacts of diet and lifestyle and the advancement of rigorous and reproducible research methods in these fields. Dr. Tobias is the PI of NIH funded research including a randomized trial of sugary beverages and epidemiologic research investigating the biology linking obesity, diabetes and cancer outcomes.
