Dr. Rosenberg is an infectious disease epidemiologist and the Deputy Director for Science in the Office of Public Health at the New York State Department of Health. He is also an associate professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics University at Albany School of Public Health-State University of New York and has been a guest scientist with the U.S Centers of Disease Control and Prevention. He received his BS from Cornell University and his PHD in epidemiology from Emory University. His research is focused on studies and methods to address public health challenges in HIV, sexually transmitted infections, viral hepatitis, drug user health, and emerging infectious diseases including Covid 19. He is the author of over 170 peer-reviewed publications, including multiple papers in the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the American Medical Association. [Dr. R] Thanks for having me [Dr. M] I really really appreciate it, let's start with the story that a lot of people are talking about which is the news of the man in Rockland county who had not only polio but a case of what's called paralytic polio. [Dr. R] That's right and actually our official report came out today in CDC's publication, MMWR, chronicling the diagnosis of this case in July and of all the other findings associated with that, which includes detection of polio virus in wastewater in multiple counties of
