Hi my name is Alisa Minkin I'm a general pediatrician I'm also the chair of the JOWMA Preventative Health Committee and I'm really excited and really honored to be here today with Dr Mark Mulligan - [Dr Mulligan] Hello Dr Minkin it's wonderful to be here. - [Dr Minkin] Wonderful to be here with you. Dr Mulligan is the Director of the Division of Infectious Diseases and Immunology in the Department of Medicine and Director of the NYU Langone Vaccine Center. He joined NYU Langone Health in 2018, by the way I graduated from NYU Medical School. He is a translational physician-scientist who leads a research clinic and a research laboratory. He conducts vaccine clinical trials and clinical studies of emerging infections. He has studied HIV, Zika, Ebola, bird flu, 2009 pandemic influenza and other infections with public health impact. He's now studying the novel coronavirus or Covid19 /SARS CoV-2. He's a graduate of the University of Notre Dame- cum laude-1980; University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas 1984. During infectious disease training (UAB 1987-90) he did post-doc molecular virology training with Dr. Richard Compans. What's UAB? - [Dr Mulligan] University of Alabama- Birmingham that's where I was for my ID Fellowship as well as Residency - [Dr. Minkin] I see, thank you. So Dr. Compans is a renowned virologist. Dr. Mulligan served as lead investigator for an NIH-funded HIV/AIDS Clinical Trial Unit, conducting AIDS and TB research in Atlanta, Kenya, The Philippines and Thailand from 2006 to 2018. He also served as the principal investigator for an NIH funded Vaccine and Treatment
