basak gender here and um and uh you know I was I was told by very many that like if you want to marry a you know very um from guy who is um learned and who's aam and who is going to be sort of the you know have the hashkafa and the household that you want you should not pursue a career in medicine because you'll never get that to all work out but thank God it all very much did um I got a degree in biology followed by um biology followed by um following my husband to Baltimore where he was learning in N strol um I worked at the National Institutes of Health for a couple of years um where I did some research between U my bachelor's degree and medical school while he was learning and then we moved to Israel where I pursued my medical degree following that we returned to Denver which is where I'm from um and I did my residency and fellowship here and then um I've been at the same hpal hospital I finished my the same hpal hospital I finished my training about 5 years ago and a year and a half ago I was um put in a there were there were some pieces that fell into place um and I was promoted to trauma director uh at my hospital and shortly thereafter chair of the department of surgery and so that's that's my professional career um that's one hat I wear um I'm also the proud mother of three wonderful children um all of whom um are great in their own rights and probably don't want me
