the year was 1591. there was a great spanish conqueror by the name of hernando cortes hernando cortes had a dream that he was going to do with an army that no other army did so many armies came along to gain that incredible treasure that the world was talking about there was this incredible treasure in mexico gold and silver and artifacts so many conquerors came with their armies so many and so many failed and none of the conquerors with their armies were able to breach and beat the mexican army to conquer mexico and its riches but cortez felt that he was different he felt that his army his hand-picked army of 2 000 men across 20 ships were going to travel the seas and they were going to make it to mexico and they were going to conquer her with all its wealth and all its glory cortes was so sure about it and weeks and weeks at the high seas he would continuously talk to his men and he would draw the dreams of wealth and glamour and how once they win this war and they conquer mexico they'd have enough money for themselves and their children for generations to come they never have to work a day he drew to them such a magnificent picture he got them riled up to want that dream more than anything in life and finally they pulled into the shores of mexico and there general cortes he lines his men up all 2000 and he turns them out all into a circle and he looks at his men each one in the eye and he was about to give the speech of a lifetime and the men knew it they knew what was coming they've been listening to the rhetoric for weeks at sea
