welcome to the jewish orthodox women's medical association podcast i'm your host alisa minkin and i'm really honored and really excited to be here today with usher lowey and i already forgot to say that i am a general pediatrician and i'm a proud joma member thank you so much for doing this with me sure thanks for having me on usher louie is an abused survivor and director of za'aka not to be confused with zaka which raises awareness about child sexual abuse in the orthodox jewish community advocates for legislative reforms and operates a shabbat and yom tov mental peer support hotline so first of all i have to give the trigger warning that we're going to be discussing very sensitive topics and it may be triggering for some people i also want to say i hope everybody listens this is not um specifically for a subgroup of of abuse survivors this is for everybody um i will also give a halal disclaimer this is a medical mental health um focused podcast we do not discuss halachic issues at all there is a um a lot of talk now about preventing child sex abuse particularly post the high and walter um scandal which we are not going to describe if you haven't heard about it um there's lots of resources that you can listen to and people can also listen to the interview you did with seoul sessions with kk i don't want to overlap with that that was an amazing interview so i i totally recommend people listen to kk which is karen korn's podcast your
