Rabbi Shaul Alter is a rosh yeshiva in Jerusalem and the eldest son of the Pnei Menachem of Gur, a descendant of the Chiddushei HaRim and of the Sfas Emes. His shiurim here are given at Yeshiva Gedolah Pnei Menachem in Jerusalem and its beis medrash, to the students of yeshivos across Eretz Yisrael, and on his journeys to Boro Park, Lakewood, Baltimore, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Much of what he teaches is Gemara and halacha in depth: a sugya taken apart line by line, the dispute of Reb Chaim Brisker and the Chazon Ish over a vow upheld and annulled at once, a responsum of the Avnei Nezer, the laws of finding chametz on Pesach, and a siman of the Chiddushei HaRim. Beside them stand his shiurim in the Sfas Emes - what the sefer is, and what the center point of creation is - in the Tanya, and in stories of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov and the Kotzker Rebbe.

Through the year he speaks at the tish of Purim and of Motzaei Yom Kippur, at the lighting of the Chanukah candles and of Lag BaOmer, at Simchas Beis HaShoeva and the second hakafos, in Yiddish and in Lashon HaKodesh, with niggunim. He prepares his listeners for Shavuos, for the Seder night and for Yom Kippur, and he answers the questions of yeshiva students, teachers and parents on learning, on raising children, and on guarding oneself from technology.
