Rabbi B is a children's teacher and singer on Lehallel — the filtered YouTube platform. 140+ of his recordings can be watched here, with no ads and no comments.
Rabbi B teaches young children Yiddishkeit with songs, stories, puppets and crafts. Each episode carries one lesson a child can hold on to: "Saying I'm Sorry (A Yom Kippur Lesson)", "Patience", "Feeling Scared", "Get Well Soon" and "Hashem is Everywhere".
He goes through the Jewish year month by month - Tishrei, Cheshvan and the rain, Kislev and its light, Tevet and Jewish books, Shevat, Sivan, Tammuz and the summer time, the four seasons, and the winter, Choref, with a song of its own - and asks "What is Rosh Chodesh?". The rain gets its own songs and stories: "Mashiv HaRuach", "Geshem Geshem" and "Twelve Wells Full". The Yamim Tovim each get their episodes: a Rosh Hashanah show and Shana Tova cards, sitting in the sukkah, Chanukah with "I Have a Little Dreidel" and a live Chanukah concert, Tu Bishvat and the seven wonderful fruits, Purim treats and a Purim hat, Pesach with its story, the Seder, Mah Nishtana, Avadim Hayinu and chametz and matzah, counting the Omer and Lag BaOmer, and Shavuot with a Mt. Sinai interview and the Ten Commandments.
The crafts are made from things found in every home - a rain-stick, rhythm sticks, a glass-cup xylophone, spoon-head puppets, shadow puppets, paper snowflakes, dreidel painting and a Beit HaMikdash in three dimensions. The stories come from the Torah and from the tzaddikim: Shlomo HaMelech and the bee, the story of Ruth, the cow that kept Shabbos, a story of Tishrei from the Baal Shem Tov, and how the Rogatchover learned a lesson.
Everyday life is part of the learning too: a tour of a shul and what a shul needs, a visit to a bakery, the dentist and brushing teeth, a first haircut at the upsherin, fire safety, the mezuzah, tzedakah, the Alef Bet and the Twelve Pesukim. For parents there are Rabbi B's top ten tips for the Seder.
Shabbos and the Beit HaMikdash come back again and again. Children get ready for Shabbat with him, go shopping for Shabbat with Dvora, and learn Birkat Hamazon in Nusach Ari; they meet the Beit HaMikdash in an episode of its own, build it as a craft in three dimensions, and walk through it built in Minecraft. The Seven Days of Creation is a song, and so is Ahavat Yisrael, and the parts of a tree become a lesson in Hebrew words.
Rabbi B also sings for children on stage: a live show in Crown Heights, a Chanukah concert, a virtual concert with friends, a Lag BaOmer class on Zoom and a Lag BaOmer dance mix, and the samplers of his albums "March Out of Egypt" and "Come Along with Rabbi B". Chanukah has its own cooking episode, "Chanukah Eats", made with Sonshine & Broccoli.
Most of his episodes are short - more than half of the ninety-five on this page run under ten minutes, and the half-way mark is about seven - while the concerts and the longer classes run half an hour to an hour. On this page they stand in seven rooms, so a parent can find the right one for the day: a craft for a rainy afternoon, the Yom Tov that is coming, the month that is starting, or a story before bed. Every episode opens on its own page, with no ads and no comments around it.
You can search inside the songs by what was said, play the whole catalog back to back, or follow Rabbi B to be told when something new comes in.
