So living with light today we're going to talk about purim and specifically one mitzvah of purim which is matanos of yonim to give gifts to the poor. So purim is now less than 3 weeks away and uh I actually only expect to have one more next week I do expect to have class but in two weeks I think I won't be available. So we have two two opportunities to talk about PM. Um so opportunities to talk about PM. Um so today we're talking about Matana's law of Yonim. So there are four primary mitzvos to be fulfilled on the day of Purim. Um one of them is reading the migillah that's read in both the evening and the daytime. One of them is to have a suda a feast. One of them is to give mishloth manos to give um food packages to um well two foods to one person is the um well two foods to one person is the basic mitzvah two foods to one person and the fourth mitzvah is matan yonim to give a gift to two poor people. Um now practically we rule that one is supposed to give enough to provide a meal for a poor person. Well for two poor people. So how much does a meal cost? A few dollars maybe five maybe seven. And uh so you maybe five maybe seven. And uh so you can you can fulfill your mitzvah by giving I guess between 10 and 12 $13 something like that would be would fulfill the mitzvah. Um, usually the way that it's done nowadays is there are people who are distributing it, distributing it, distributing the money on our behalf. So either the rabbi collects it or there's organizations that collect it and they distribute it as our agents on pur. Now the source
