So, Pirkei Avot chapter 4 and we're starting today from Mishnah Chaf Bet, Mishnah 22. I did call what we learned last week Mishnah 22, but then I decided that it was really Mishnah 21. So, uh I split one that shouldn't have been split. So, now we begin with Mishnah Chaf Bet, 22. Rebbe Shimon bar Elazar omer, Rebbe Shimon bar Elazar says, and he's going to give us four pieces of advice which are certainly intuitive and uh and important uh and important to for everyone to to be aware of and they are as follows. Al tirצהeh et chavero bishat ka'aso. The simple understanding of this is don't try to appease your friend while he or she is angry. Ve'al tenachamenu bish'at meito mutal lefanav. And don't console them or try to console them while their the deceased is right in front of them still. in front of them still. Ve'al tish'al lo bish'at nidro. And don't ask on their behalf when they make their neder, their vows. This is seemingly referring to the idea that there's there are two ways that a a vow can be nullified, but one of them is through she'elah. So, the by asking the the the court would ask a person or a talmid chacham also sometimes could or a talmid chacham also sometimes could do it. If you would have known this or that, would you have still made the vow? And if they say, "Oh, had I known that, I never would have made the vow." So, that can um that can nullify the vow. So, the Mishnah saying, "Don't ask them these questions right away. That's not the time to try Right after they make the vow, that's not the time time to try to be show out to ask on the vow, to to nullify the vow. And finally,
