Hi everyone, Rabbi Doctor Jack Cohen here. Imagine being married to someone for 120 years while the entire world thinks your husband is crazy. That's the story this week of Noach and his wife. For 120 years Noach builds an enormous ark or teva. People make fun of him. They laugh at him. They think he's lost his mind. But there's something remarkable. Noach's wife doesn't abandon ship. She stands by her husband. And when the flood finally arrives, she enters the teva the ark together with her husband. My friends, there's an extraordinary lesson here about dating and marriage. The Torah tells us "Vayavo and marriage. The Torah tells us "Vayavo Noach uvanav ve'ishto un'shei vanav ito el hateva." Noach, his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives entered the ark. Think about that. The entire world was falling apart, but this family was entering a place of safety together. My dear rebbe who was right behind me, Rav Avigdor Miller, constantly emphasized a powerful principle. The Jewish home is one of Hashem's greatest institutions for building human character.
