good evening okay now is the official welcome thank you for joining us tonight so my name is rabbi schamps and i have been teaching in this wednesday night slot um on zoom since the beginning of the cobit pandemic and we've gone through many different series and it's exciting for me to be able to teach say for yonah the book of jonah um mainly because it was exciting for me to to because it was exciting for me to to learn it in depth in order to prepare for the class so uh and then to be able to share it with you um it is relevant this time of year because as was just mentioned we read the book of jonah ong yom kippur it's red in the afternoon um and the minka service in the afternoon service so it's somewhat right before the climax of naila and so one of the questions that we're going to explore is questions that we're going to explore is what exactly is the connection between the book of jonah and yom kippur why is it chosen to be the half torah for the afternoon of yom kippur um what is the book of jonah about so first of all the book of jonah is included in the prophets um it's one of the 12 short books in the prophets and uh and it uh
