okay so welcome to our new series fundamentals of prayer my name is rabbi hilal shacks i work for the greater washington community call and i run a program on behalf of gwck called links and this this series and this evening's class falls under the the links programming um guess we'll we'll get and we'll also do we'll do introductions and we'll do we'll do introductions and we'll we'll we'll intertwine it into the into the the class itself so i want to just start us off with a little story to get us thinking so at hasidic weddings there is a custom i guess you could call it to invite a what's called a bad fun a bobstone is basically a comedian and they entertain the families the bride and the groom with with jokes and imitations and you know all in good spirit queen and uh good spirit queen and uh at a particular wedding which is being attended by one of the great hasidic rabbis the badhran asked this comedian asked the hasidic rabbi if he could imitate the rabbi as part of the the fun and the rabbi agreed he agreed go ahead you know let's let's enjoy this and sure enough this rebbe was known to darwin to pray in a very particular you know new way he had a high-pitched voice he got very
