Russia good evening thank you for coming uh so I want to talk about three major ideas regarding possessions and wealth and the natural natural human desire to acquire things I mean it's It's Not Unusual it is actually not abnormal that we want to own stuff from the very moment a child is able to grab you know that they'll grab things and you know that they'll grab things and they'll say sometimes the kids's first word is mine this is mine sometimes people's last word as well but basically mine right and there something basic within human nature to desire uh possession and the truth is a lot of the uh uh wonderful benefits that we have in the world things like electricity things like the internal combustion engine many many uh Matters from which we benefit many uh Matters from which we benefit continuously were motivated by people who wanted to make money which is in itself that's not that's not a terrible thing right so we have benefited from this the whole world has benefited from people who want to make money and they' that's motivated them to try to invent things now there are some altruistic people Etc that is certainly so but it is a major motivation and it's something which the Torah recognizes so for example and this Torah recognizes so for example and this is a very strange idea but we we we've we've heard it many many times where we are told vas Yakov L Yakov remains on the other side of the yabok river um he's running away from his brother asov he's got his family with him and we are told that vob L he stayed on the other side of the river so that means putting himself in danger possibly putting his family in danger and and and that's where of course the Malak struggles with
