I am Morai Becker and this is Jewish Anytime and it is Tishaba A, the 9th of A. A month in the Jewish calendar in which many tragedies happened to us and a day in the Jewish calendar in which some of the greatest worst tragedies that the Jewish people ever experienced happened. I'm sure you've heard of some of them. the condemnation of the generation of the condemnation of the generation of the Exodus to die in the desert and not go into the land of Israel as a result of their lack of faith and the belief that they would go into Israel. that tragedy and the destruction of the first temple after having existed for years and not only that but the exile of the Jewish people from Israel who had lived in the land of Israel for over a hundred years as an independent nation who are now exiles in Babylon what we who are now exiles in Babylon what we call Iraq, Persia, Iran etc. Then after the return to Israel, yet another destruction of the temple in 70 CE by the Roman legions and the exile of the Jewish people to all over the Roman Empire, Jews sold as slaves, Jews killed in the gladiatorial games, people dying by starvation and disease in Israel during the war, the desolation in Israel during the war, the desolation of the land of Israel, the beginning of the diaspora and and really there are tragedy upon tragedy that happened throughout history. The expulsion from or first the the first crusade was declared 1096 and and that cut a swath of destruction through the Jews of the Rhineland. There was the expulsion from England in 1290. Jews did not return until the time of Oliver Cromwell hundreds of years later.
