okay welcome back so this is uh week number two of pirkei avos i wish i could translate that we went through uh last week a number of different explanations for what that means we'll call it chapters of the fathers um and uh last week we studied the first three paragraphs the first three mishnayos and today i'm hoping that we'll do the next three just to recap because we're going to tie it in so it in so last week in the second mishna we learned the teaching of shimon hatsadik shim on the righteous and he taught that the world stands on three things on torah on a voda service of god and on game acts of kindness and we explained by again there's many different ways to understand each of these teachings but the way that we understood it was that the way that we understood it was that the world stands on three things meaning the world was really created so that man kind can engage in these three things that would bring about the purpose of creation which is for the creations us to develop a relationship with god a closeness with god which is achieved through making ourselves similar to god and doing acts that bring us close so torah's doggy gives us the the mindset the perspective of god we become similar to god in that
