so as promised the fourth and final class on the book of jonah is going to be focusing on another perspective on this safer on the book of yonah and that is based on the commentary of rabbi yahuwah vilna the great i guess uh 18 18th century um talmudic master he was a master of all talmudic master he was a master of all areas of torah from jewish law through kabbalah and everything and he has a commentary that he refers to as the explanation of yonah through ramez ramez means hinting so we have a an idea that actually the entire torah all parts of the torah are are divine and contained within them different layers there's an acronym for paradise par day stands for par day stands for which is the surface level remez which is the next level which is what's hinted to beneath the surface drush is maybe extrapolation more and then there's sod which is or or uh yeah paradise soda is like the deeper hidden things that's more kabbalistic it's not even there it's totally hidden so this explanation he describes against rammus which means it's we're not going to be speaking about great kabbalistic secrets today that you couldn't come derived couldn't come derived on your own it's more of taking the story and then understanding it as more allegorically that's not to say that it's not to be understood on both levels to be understood on the shot on the surface level and at the same time this is a divine work it can be understood as an allegory at the same time and so what we're going to do is we're going to retell this whole story and hopefully we'll get through the whole thing um and well we will get through the whole thing it's just a question of how long it's going to take
