And Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon And the Rambam wrote the three major works and uh many other essays letters uh [Music] The Rambam was very prolific. And he uh [Music] His great fame in the Jewish world came due to his uh writings. came due to his uh writings. The Rambam also wrote major works on medicine. The medicine of his time, naturally. Uh the Rambam was uh seen as an expert in pharmacology and drugs herbs The Rambam was a believer in uh pretty much a natural medicine. I don't think that in the the 12th and 13th centuries uh without the diagnostic tools and without the technology that we have today uh that uh any other type of medicine really was possible. But the Rambam was recognized as being an outstanding expert in it. Rambam was also believer in preventive medicine. In other words, uh he prescribed. We even find it in his books of Halakha. In the Mishneh Torah, the Rambam prescribes the Mishneh Torah, the Rambam prescribes uh good eating habits, good sleeping habits. The Rambam says you should sleep 8 hours a night. Some people are more machmir and sleep longer. Uh The Rambam himself, naturally, like all doctors, never took his own advice. Uh the Rambam is such a strong believer in preventive medicine in the fact that there were great extent we control what will happen to us
