welcome to Sparks of History where Jewish history and world history meet we are very honored and privileged to have with us today Rabbi Beryl wine Rabbi wine has been aptly called The Voice Jewish history for Our Generation that by wine has preeminently made Jewish history alive with thousands upon thousands all with deep Insight broad knowledge refreshing Candor and intelligent wit Rabbi wine thank you intelligent wit Rabbi wine thank you again for joining us today at Sparks of History we appreciate it very very much thank you uh just to start where rosh haldesh Adar we're approaching Purim what historic lessons do we learn from the Purim Saga mordify Esther what insights does it provide regarding anti-semitism I think the main Insight is that anti-semitism is alive and well and that it the and that it the SE no specific uh catalysts the burst open and that the many times it comes some unexpected sources and uh in our time for instance we always were afraid of anti-Semitism so to speak from the right but the main anti-Semitism today is from the left and uh there always will be people like Haman who will use it there's a vehicle for their own self-advancement for power and uh because we are such a small people make a lot of noise but uh gamara says that gamara says that two stones in the can each piece makes a lot of noise the can is full yeah you can't hear anything so we're very small we make a lot of noise and uh therefore and we are different therefore all of the reasons of anti-Semitism that have existed over the centuries uh meld into one
