so tonight we're going to start chapter two of pierre chavos ethics of our fathers and uh we are probably or actually only i'm only planning to cover one mishna tonight because this mishna is packed with uh it could have been three different mishnas um has a lot going on so the mishna begins as follows it says rebbi omer so rebbie by the way why rabbi just means you know my teacher the teacher so it refers to rabbi yehuda hanasi rabbi judah the prince the leader of the jewish people um and the actually the compiler of the mishnah so rabbi yehuda hanasi said as follows what is the straight path that a person should choose whatever is a honor or a splendor to the one who does it and it's an honorary splendor from man from other people so i'll have to explain what that means the heavy zahir bamitzva and one should take care one should be careful with a light mitzvah as much as a stringent mitzvah shaying because one doesn't know you don't know the reward for mitzvos so treat the light mitzvos like the severe mitzvos they have a michael shave half stay admits looking nuggets tara and one should calculate evaluate the loss of a mitzvah versus its reward and the reward for a transgression versus its loss and i'm deliberately not really explaining these lines because we'll go through them you know cause by cause the stakeholder bishop and a person should focus on three things and if one does then you won't come to sin and those three things are well there's like a further introduction damage one should know what is above you uh or i guess that could be number one
