all right welcome and good evening so we are continuing to talk about what happened at Sinai and last week we started to talk about the Ten Commandments we had previously spoken for a number of weeks just about the events themselves the Revelation and we started the Ten Commandments last week and we learned about number one so today we're going to logically go to number logically go to number six okay that's not it's not random if you were following last week There's logic to that why we go from one to six because one is related to six now number six is the prohibition Thou shalt not murder which would seemingly possibly be the most obvious of all the Commandments perhaps most unnecessary to tell us you know not to murder but uh but I mean as know not to murder but uh but I mean as we spoken about there's a buildup in the there's a structure to the Ten Commandments and hopefully we'll also just gain a better appreciation for this not so much thank God that any of us need to be told this but that there's there's more to to than meets the eye perhaps we'll say um now the most obvious perspective is just from the societal perspective a society where murder is rampant will not function properly and uh it will be detrimental properly and uh it will be detrimental to that society and therefore every society has these kinds of rules in place that that don't allow don't allow for murder except for some have exceptions for certain people and certain types of people that they're not interested in keeping around and then they all of a sudden allow it so it's not obvious within every society unfortunately there have been many societies and as Jews we know this for sure that have uh have condoned murder
