tonight I want to speak about a topic when bad things happen to good people and I have to just give a disclaimer I'm gonna do my best it's I'm probably not gonna do it perfectly and I hope you don't walk away with more questions than you came in with but I'm gonna give do it make an attempt to try to explain it to you as best I can and through the work that best I can and through the work that I've been doing over the years on this topic and what I've been thinking about and I have to admit that it's probably the most important question as juice that we do have to think about why bad things happen in life why there is pain why there is suffering and all of you are old enough to realize that life doesn't just float by without difficulties things happen in life sickness happens and pain happens and things that we wish didn't happen they happen and yet we live in a world where happen and yet we live in a world where as Jews we believe in the God believe in Almighty so we have an obligation to understand how it fits all together how can God be there and love us at the same time create a world in which we experience pain and there's real pain in this world that's the challenge that I'm going to take on tonight and it might be too big a task it probably is but I'm going to try to answer it a little bit so bear with me
