all right so we are picking up pirkei avos chapter two and we are in the middle of mishnah christ and it depends again how your version divides it up in the version that i'm following um we're in the middle of mishna 8 and last week the first half of the mishnah was a statement from ribbing yohanan ben and he made actually a series of and he made actually a series of statements of short clauses and uh today we're going to pick up from the second half where he talks about his five great students and we're hopefully going to learn two different mishnas here um and they're both going to have to do with these five students and actually the following mishnahs that that follow these two are a continuation because then we have the some of the teachings of those students so part of what we may try to do is try to part of what we may try to do is try to tie everything together what we say about each student and what the student says and etc so we'll see as we go so the mishnah says that i had five students now it doesn't mean he had only five students but he had we'll have to see what it means but to maybe we can say for now he had five standout students um the abu hane and these are the five um the abu hane and these are the five students rabbi eliezer ben horconus those were the five great students that he had and then it says he would count or list their praises and he had

  6. 29:48many commentators so so mr schmuel says that rabino yonah explains that it's not a contradiction
  7. 36:03what is the straight path that a person should cleave to what is the key the
  8. 41:39regular individuals can aim for and would set them on a straight path now obviously by
  9. 47:56before what was the praise that was given to him was that ashrae yolato praised as
  10. 54:03but but it starts with humility that's that's wrong explanation alternatively it means something very different
