We pick up where last week's Parsha two weeks ago we read it, but the last Parsha we read left off and namely that is the census, the count of the Jewish people. Va'Yidaber Hashem el Moshe lemor God speaks to Moshe. Rabbi Saks brings down in the Chumash, I won't read it to you inside but I saw it and it was powerful. In antiquity in the old world, census sensai, is that a word? censuses sensai censuses People did a census in order to demonstrate power. We see this right now. Armies flex their muscle. What kind of military might? How many ships can they send to the region? How many soldiers on those ships? How many ornaments? How many weapons? How do they flex their muscle? Well, in those days, the way that you flex your muscle was when you talked about your population, the census. This is as many we have, and therefore you can extrapolate how big our army is.
