The person who came up with the theory of cognitive dissonance is someone named Leon Festinger. And he wrote a book called When Prophecy Fails. And what inspired him to come up with that theory that feeling that being torn in the way that you look at the world is actually the Jewish community. In the opening pages, when he talks about messianic disappointment that they thought that he was going to be the new Msiah, he didn't come and disappointment that it had and what it did to the community. The whole theory came from the Jewish community.
