that they should assume Mikdash betokham. Build for me a temple of Mikdash, a house so that I could dwell in it. The Midrash explains based on an interesting pasuk. Pasuk that we all know, the pasuk says Torat Moshe Morasha Kehilat Yaakov. The pasuk says that Moshe commanded the Torah. Moshe gave us 613 mitzvot. Torat Moshe Morasha Kehilat Yaakov. It's an inheritance to Kehilat Yaakov. It's an inheritance to the community of Yaakov, to the Jewish people. Morasha our Rabbis say Morasha Me'orasa. Don't read it Morasha. Read it Me'orasa. That in a way we are engaged. We are married. What does that mean we are married? Mahatanzeh, just like a groom kols man as at all. Here's the allegory. The betrothed The betrothed couple When the groom is just engaged to his bride when they're not married he is the one visiting his father-in-law's house to see the fiance. Mish enasav, but once you get married harei avihah ba itzla, but it's the father who has to come see the son-in-law. He must come to his house. So, too, kacha shelo natnu Torah l'Yisrael When the Torah was not yet given to the Jewish people Moshe alah l'Elokim Moshe alah l'Elokim We had to go up to Torah. We had to go up to God. We had to go visit him. However, mish enatnu Torah, but once Torah was given Amar Hakadosh Baruch Hu l'Moshe, God says to Moses v'asu li Mikdash v'shachanti b'tocham I want to come now live with you. I'm going to come dwell downstairs. Now that you're married, now the father-in-law has to go visit the bride in the son-in-law's house. Now Hashem comes down. So, God says, "Make for me a temple. Make for me a home so that I can come and live with you." This is how the beautiful Midrash
