good morning um we are in the middle of chapter 17. terek yuzain we are we left off in the middle of the story of david and goliath david and goliath um last class we introduced with that ted talk of malcolm gladwell we got our feet with the story we read the first half of the chapter i would say talking about um you know the events leading up to david stepping into events leading up to david stepping into the limelight to fight against goliath which is where we left off we talked about some themes and ideas about shaol's inability to fight what was going on there we made a comparison between david and yosef and some of the brotherly strife that we see in this chapter um and we also noted the idea of ish the milat the recurring word of ish and this chapter kind of speaks a lot about what makes a quote-unquote man what is an ishmael person who's going to fight and bravery person who's going to fight and bravery and courage it's not somebody who has the strongest armor or the strongest muscles or the highest stature it's somebody who's connected to hashem hashem is the ishmael somebody who has hashem on his lips and that's what we're going to continue to see throughout the chapter so what we're going to read now is from the middle of chapter 17 until the end of the chapter which is going to discuss the actual battle between david and goliath which is not very long and then some of the aftermath of that as well and we'll talk about some of the
