I suppose you're all wondering why I called you here today. Um Shiva Asar B'Tammuz and I feel like um it's actually a very special Shiva Asar B'Tammuz. Um you know we're all going through a lot of stuff everybody in their little life in their little world which is a big world and the world in general it's not just here in Israel it's everywhere in the world people are walking around afraid um confused um it's a time that um the Jewish people in particular have not experienced for many many years. And uh I just like to speak about Shiva Asar B'Tammuz and put it in that context um and share a couple of um inyanim which I believe are chiddushim. Shiva Asar B'Tammuz the uh Chazal say quoting Zecharya in perek ches that there is the tsom ha-revi'i, tsom ha-chamishi, tsom ha-shevi'i, tsom ha-asiri four major tsomos fast days that the navi spoke about. Um Ta'anit Esther is not in there because that was after the time of Zecharya. But there's four major fast days that the navi spoke about in Zecharya ches pasuk yud tes um today is the tsom ha-revi'i and it's called the tsom ha-revi'i because of Nissan, Iyar, Sivan Tammuz. Um here we are in the revi'i chodesh ha-revi'i and Chazal say what happened on the tsom ha-revi'i that the navi spoke about some happened and some didn't yet happen apparently. So Chazal says that Shiva Asar B'Tammuz is yom she-nishberu ha-luchos Moshe Rabbeinu broke the luchos. Butel hatamid, the korban tamid stopped. Hufka ir, the walls of Jerusalem were breached. Saraf apostomos es haTorah, the Torah was burned in public. Vehe'emid selem beheichal. And the Greeks put a selem, put an idol into the Beis Hamikdash. These are the um the reasons for our fasting today on Shivah B'Tammuz.
