good afternoon this is a dubai torah on parshas khukat it is a short worship but a very significant one it opens with um [Music] god commanding moisha one of the um and aaron one of the most um enigmatic mitzvahs in fact um it's what is known as a hulk a law that rational understanding could never derive and it um and it it goes like this um [Music] [Music] there is a command to take a red heifer para the man hebrew it's one whose fur is completely red it also has to be a calf and there has to be an animal who was never used for any labor never had an all uh on its harness or any other type of harness or any other type of thing around its neck and even if it had two hairs they were not the right color they would disqualify it they were um it was ordered that it must be taken outside the camp of israel and what must happen is the cohen priest must uh burn it must uh burn it slaughter it he offers flood in the mishkan sanctuary on the uh it's back the altar but the animal itself is completely burned its ashes that would empirify pure water and skeptically pill a place outside the camp now this was to purify people into two categories one that were either had killed somebody usually indicated across the battle and tumus mace is the strongest type of impurity some of the dead or somebody went into a tent or some other kind of structure where a dead person um body was found or parts of a dead body were found the person had to purify him or herself
