okay good morning everybody thank you for coming we are continuing our study of shamu el-bet we're up to chapter 12 perek yud which is the second of two two chapters which deals with the saga of david and bacheba so in our last class we read the very troubling story of david and batsheva taking a married woman impregnating her trying to cover it up eventually sending her husband off to battle where he was killed intentionally david seems to david seems to not be so bothered by that fact he does what he needs to do afterwards he takes batsheva to be his wife and they have the baby and obviously as the last pasuk in chapter 11 states david's actions are quite troubling the pasuk says hashem that the actions of david which he had done were were very evil and wicked in the eyes of were very evil and wicked in the eyes of god god is clearly displeased with david's actions and certainly the reader feels very similarly taking all of the events at face value which we have no reason to suspect that we wouldn't um certainly this is very very troubling actions on the part of david this seems to be a much more grave sin at least from a personal perspective than let's say what sha'ul had done in the previous kingdom you know not killing every last animal of amalek or not waiting for shimo el here we have
