Okay, good morning friends. Shalom aleichem and we're continuing in Sifrei Chinuch Hilchos Tzitzis Siman Tes. When the Torah talks about the mitzvah of tzitzis, it says, they should make tzitzis on the corners of the garment. But it doesn't say what type of garment you should make tzitzis on. Are all the garments chiyuvin tzitzis? Is leather chiyuvin tzitzis? Is cotton chiyuvin chiyuvin tzitzis? Is cotton chiyuvin tzitzis? Is wool? It doesn't say. So, there are two opinions in the Gemara. The Tanna d'bei Rabbi Yishmael says we learn out from tzaraas, whereby tzaraas it says tzemer u'fishtim wool and linen. So, therefore, whenever it says beged, it's a it's referring to a garment of wool or linen. That is the opinion of the Mechaber. The shita of the Shulchan Aruch is only wool or linen is chiyuvin tzitzis mid'rabbanan. All other begadim other begadim Only wool and linen are chiyuvim mid'oraisa. All other garments, let's say cotton, is only chiyuv mid'rabbanan. According to the Mechaber, one should not make tallis katan out of cotton. Okay, according to the Shulchan Aruch, you should not use cotton tzitzis. Why? Cuz you're not even chiyuvin mid'oraisa. That's the opinion of the uh Shulchan Aruch. The Rama paskins like Rava. What does Rava say? Rava asks a contradiction. contradiction. One pasuk says al tzitzis hakanaf, which implies whatever the garment is made out of, the tzitzis should be made out of. And one pasuk says lo silbash shaatnez tzemer u'fishtim gedilim taaseh lach, which implies that tzitzis should be made out of the materials that you can make shaatnez out of, namely wool or linen. So, it's a contradiction. Could you make tzitzis out of any material or could you only make tzitzit out of wool or linen? The way Rava understands it is
