hi everyone welcome to another edition of this farum chatter podcast on this episode of the podcast I'm going to be joined by Professor Steven Bowman who is the professor Meritus at in the judaic studies Department University of Cincinnati and who just published a complete English translation of sa for yoson or yosun uh which is the book is titled saer yoson saer yoson a 10th Century history of ancient Israel and is published by Wayne State University press so thank you Professor Bowman for joining me delighted to be here so let's joining me delighted to be here so let's sort of tell the listeners a little bit about yourself and your background well I first discovered yoson which is the uh the Greek ending uh which helped us to understand where he be where he came from uh in any event when I was doing my my dissertation work uh starting at the Hebrew University in the mid-60s and then later at Ohio State University where I finished by PhD in late Byzantine history uh and then and then um subsequently I've been publishing on the uh Greek Jews during the the Holocaust and World War II uh and recently I published another book uh which is a uh uh a novel or semi by autographic novel uh by Nathan Mayer on his career in u the Union Army during the Civil War fascinating book uh called Differences
