I really wanted to give a Wednesday night shiur on this topic. This topic I wanted to dedicate a whole Wednesday night, but I'm not here this Wednesday night. And I didn't want to let the week pass by because it's really focused on a pasuk in this week's parsha. So, even though this is deserving of a Wednesday night shiur, but there is an amazing pasuk in parshas Re'eh. Ki im el hamakom asher yivchar Hashem Elokeichem mikol shivteichem lasum es shemo sham lishchino yisderishu shamah. You want to bring a korban? You want to slaughter an animal? Only to the place that Hashem, your God, selected lasum es shemo sham to put his name there. These words are critical words. Lishchino yisderishu. What does lishchino mean? The Shechinah. Lishchino, his Shechinah, yisderishu. You should seek out and go there. Now, everywhere in Tanach, the Makom Hamikdash is called Makom asher yivchar Hashem. It's the place that God selected, right? It says, "Ki im el hamakom asher yivchar Hashem." What does that mean, Hashem selected? Says the Malbim, "Ki nisvadah al yidei navi." The navi told us where it is. The navi tells us, "Okay, this is where Hashem Otherwise, we would have no idea. We would go to Eretz Yisrael, we would say, 'Okay, where where where? Should we go to Tiveria? Should we go to Tzfas? Should we go to Hebron? So the Navi said, "No, you know Jerusalem." Okay, where? Where in Jerusalem?
