Welcome to episode 39 of the Goldenberg Destiny project. So in the previous episode we spoke about Alexander the Great and how he basically conquered the world and Hellenized his empire. After he died there was a he had successors, his generals, and they fought over the empire. Who's going to be the successor? Um Alexander was asked at his death, "Who should be your successor?" and he said, "The strongest." So each one tried to be the strongest and nobody was able to be strong enough to overcome the others. And basically the empire was divided up into three parts. There was a fourth also, but basically three parts. The Antigonid and kingdom in Greece and Macedonia, the um Seleucid empire in Syria, and the uh Ptolemaic empire, Ptolemaic kingdom it was called, in Egypt. Now, the way that it was divided up was that Ptolemy in Egypt had Egypt. He also had, it's called Coele-Syria. That means he had like lower part of Syria. He had Judea. He had Phoenicia, which is Lebanon. He had the southern part of Syria, which uh with Damascus was in his part. And Seleucus Seleucus had Syria and its capital was Antioch. He also had Babylon and Babel. He also had Persia and he had Bactria, which is Afghanistan, and he had the northern northern Persia, which was Parthia. So, he had a vast vast empire. It reached all the way to India. But in Syria, he only had the northern part. He didn't have the southern part
