Okay, good morning everyone. Shalom I want to share with you a very amazing question on parshas matos. The possuk describes a woman who made an other. We're learning in Nedarim. And the husband was made for the other unbeknownst to the woman. So it says Isha hafeira. V'Hashem yisach la. So the woman made an other, she's never going to eat bagels. She others bagels to herself. She says um hareini zeh alai bagels k'korban. Fine. Um unbeknownst to her, the husband didn't like that. So he annulled the vow. Meanwhile, she came to the shul Sunday morning and she was just completely overwhelmed by the smell of the bagel. So while nobody was looking, she dashed to the bagels, took a bagel and downed three bagels. Now as far as she was concerned, she was violating the other. But she wasn't because the husband annulled the other. So it says Isha hafeira. The husband annulled the other, but v'Hashem yisach la, Hashem will give her atonement. So the question is why does she need atonement? Apparently, even though she wasn't actually doing an aveira, but but she thought she was doing an aveira. So from here we see that if you do an aveira in kavana, even though in ma'aseh you're not doing an aveira, you need you need kapara. So the Gemara Nazir famously says, when Rabbi Akiva would get to the possuk Isha hafeira, v'Hashem yisach la, Rabbi Akiva would cry. Rabbi Akiva would say, "Ma somebody who intended to eat a chazir and ate lamb chops needs kapara, certainly someone who intended to eat chazir and ate chazir should certainly need kapara." Whenever Rabbi Akiva would get to this possuk, he would cry. By the way, Rebbe Yosef Engel would say, "Why why would Rebbe Akiva cry?" Cuz Rebbe Akiva, according to many, he's the gilgul of Shimon. You know, Machiras Yosef.
