hi my name is alisa minkin i'm a general pediatrician and i'm also co-chair of the joma preventative health committee and i'm really fortunate and really excited and really honored to be here today with rabbi yossi benshushan at the yeshiva high school of cleveland he's a certified alcohol and substance abuse counselor who currently has a private practice and does motivational speaking and community education on addiction all over the u.s and israel rabbi ben shushan is well known also for his regular column risk factor in mishpacha magazine so i'm really excited to have you here today thank you so much for joining me thank you so much doctor for having me i uh i really appreciate it it's a it's a real honor oh no it's my honor it really is and as i've told you my daughter and i are super super big fans of your risk factor column so i want to start out by saying i really want this to be proactive i don't want it to be frightening and depressing you know especially in today's difficult times i feel like we're all so emotionally drained and exhausted um and i remember how it felt i remember how far to be a teenager you know hearing about these things i remember as a you know i'm an older parent but when my kids were a bit younger and we had programs in our kids schools you know i found it you know kind of overwhelming um and scary and not necessarily empowering so i really want this talk to you know be proactive and empowering and not leave people feeling like well wow this is scary well yeah you know it's it's it's really
