and so with hashem's loving grace uh we begin our fourth lesson in book of ruth today's lesson is called the roots of mashiach it's our fourth and concluding lesson okay as we do every week since this is the colluding lesson chapter four had four lessons each one corresponds a different chapter we'll do a quick review of the first three chapters so in case you're new and i see a few names that are new with us we'll catch up and everybody will be on the same page okay and if there's anything unclear feel free to ask questions about this lesson at the end of the lesson whatever you want to ask about doesn't necessarily happen about this lesson but whatever you want to ask about okay at the end of the lesson we'll be happy to answer questions with shim's help okay chapter four and mcgillis ruth we start off with an overview of the first three chapters chapter one we see is it's a background of what's happening the guild of ruth that was the the book of ruth was quote and codified by samuel the prophet he wrote it in a prophetic spirit and it brings the background of what was going on in israel after joshua's death when moses took the people out of egypt and moses died right at the end of 40 years before they came into the land of israel moses was not allowed to enter the land of israel joshua brought the people into israel for seven years they fought wars with the locals the canaanite nations who are very mighty nations capturing the land of israel and for that seven years they settled okay during these several years of
