Okay, good morning everyone. Thank you for joining us on this beautiful Monday morning as we are starting together a new book of as it's called. We have five books beginnings. It's the beginning of the world. It be the beginning of the Jewish people. It's the creation of the Jewish people. a very appropriate name for the book of that deals with the beginnings with the genesis of all of uh our history. What's very interesting and this is what today's class hopefully will be about is the second book. The book that we just began and what is the name of this book? It is called the book of Shemote. Shemote. What does that mean? Shimote means names. It's a peculiar name to give a book It's a peculiar name to give a book name. Names. Why is it called name? Because uh you would say on a simple level the para begins with that word. It's right there in the first. And this is these are the names of the Jewish people who came down to Egypt. And maybe as simple as that, but it really obviously can't be so simple. Torah is obviously can't be so simple. Torah is not that simple. We're not just going to pick a random word that appears in first puk and decide that this will be the entire name of the whole book, not just the para itself, but that somehow this word encapsulates it embodies the theme of the of the whole book. It doesn't seem so simple that just because it's there in the first puk. Why is that appropriate name? Because it just appears in the first puk names.
