Okay, Parshas Pinchas, I'm going to try something tonight. It's a little bit out there. It occurred to me in Yerushalayim, Ir Hakodesh. And I said it in Motzei Shabbos in my friend Reb Yitzchak Sokol's house. He has a house in the Old City. It's overlooking the Azara. The house overlooks Azara. Oh, you don't even know, the Makom Hamikdash. The last possuk in Parshas Balak Vayehi hamaysim bamagefa arba v'esrim elef. How many Jews died in the magefa because of the sin of Zimri and Kozbi? 24,000. You know, we've seen that number before. Is that the only time you've ever seen the number 24,000? That Right? The number 24,000 should ring a bell. So, immediately you say, "Yeah, the students of Rabbi Akiva. There are 24,000 students of Rabbi Akiva." What? There's some connection between 24,000 Jews who died in the midbar and the 24,000 students of Rabbi Akiva? Yeah. The Ram Mipano in Sefer Gilgulei Neshamos says, in fact, the 24,000 students of Rabbi Akiva were gilgulim of these 24,000 Jews who died in the magefa. And Rabbi Akiva was none other than Kozbi bas Tzur. Rabbi Akiva was, excuse me, by um was none other than Zimri ben Salu. Rabbi Akiva was none other than Zimri ben Salu. he's The his other name is Shlumiel ben Tzurishaddai. What in the world is the connection between Zimri ben Salu and Rabbi Akiva, the 24,000 people who died in the magefa, and the 24,000 students of Rabbi Akiva? So, this is what occurred to me. Another interesting thing is that we read these parshas around the time of Shiv'a asar betamus. There's a hidush that we had on shiva asar betamus that we've been using it for many many years.
