series uh became a reality and continued uh Rabbi may ro uh who is here is the driving force behind it and all of the wonderful institutions that have opened their doors and hosted these events as well as the really Splendid speakers who have come and been part of it um there's a special sad tinge this evening because in discussion before we thought that it would be appropriate to dedicate the evening's learning to a kir of professional whose life was tragically cut short today there is a rabbi by the name of Rabbi David wiar who lived in Staten Island uh wife and 10 children and used to be M people among other things on Facebook and became known as the facebooker Reba there's the Harry Potter rebba and there's the Facebook Reba so this is the facebooker Reba and there are wonderful stories that they tell about him I didn't know him personally but I see the beautiful things that people that I do know are saying about him and perhaps what is done here tonight could be a little bit of an alas for somebody who has plenty of zos of his own um sometimes current events can be found hinted at in the Torah reading other times the Kat Torah can be encouraged to reflect current events but occasionally the weekly para screams current events it's our job to make appropriate connections and appropriate distinctions as well it's very easy to fall into the Trap of easy parallels and it's important to maintain balance even as we draw comparisons in the last two weeks we read of the gradual campaign instigated by parro to enslave the Jews both physically and mentally I'd like to draw attention to one tactic already evident in parro's first words
