On this episode of the podcast, I'm going to be joined once again by Professor Edward Fran, who is professor of Jewish history at Bengurian University in the negv. And we'll be discussing a book that he wrote a number of years ago, book and a translation titled My Dear Daughter, Rabbi Benjamin Slonic and the Education of Jewish Woman in 16th century Poland. And this is about um Rabbi Noan Slon who listeners may be more familiar with him as the author of Shalu Shalu Masam as well as this work that Sedashim was originally written in Yiddish and it deals with the three mitzvah of women um lighting candles Friday night and um it was written in Yiddish and this edition professor Fram is a has the Yiddish text with the English translation and there's also re more recently been a Hebrew translation through Sukunarin and and that was published as a standalone and now it's combined in the back of the their new edition of his chispin but we'll be edition of his chispin but we'll be discussing this uh professor fram's translation and his kind of overview and discussion of the book so thank you professor fram for joining me once again thank you for having me so let's start off um as I mentioned what the safer is about the mitzvah for woman h how did you become interested in rabbi sonic and really in this safer of his so I had an interest before I worked on this on the postkim who lived in Poland between about 1550 and 1650 that more or less
