What’s said in this shiur
The opening of this shiur, in Rabbi Daniel Glatstein’s own words— taken from the captions, so names and Hebrew terms may be approximate.
Okay, good evening friends. Continuing Sefer Tomer Devorah. We're in perek sheni, which is the mida of kesser, which is primarily humility. And we learned the medication, the elixir that the Ramak concocted this potion to acquire humility. It consisted of three ingredients. Number one, to train yourself to run away from kavod as much as possible. Because if you're accustomed to people honoring you, then you're going to get used to it, and you're going to need it, and it will be hard to be cured. Number two, you should think about your shame. And even if you say, "Well, nobody else knows about it, so why should uh so why does it affect me?" Nevertheless, the person says just it's just because they don't know about it. If they would only know the sort of the shame of of uh Now, you have to be very strong to think that way. You know, if you're a weakling, if you don't have high self-esteem, it's going to be hard to think about one's own shame. He's talking about thinking about what happens to the food that you eat. And the lowly part of man. And the third uh ingredient is to bear to remember your sins. And that the best yeshurun in the world are ones that don't take you away from avodas Hashem if people shame you. >> [snorts] >> Okay, now the Ramak is going to give us another medication, and this medication
