What’s said in this shiur
The opening of this shiur, in Rabbi Daniel Glatstein’s own words— taken from the captions, so names and Hebrew terms may be approximate.
Okay, good morning, everyone. Again, choidesh. Rosh Choidesh Nissan. Choidesh shel chidush b'his chatchas. That's what my grandfather used to say. We're in the middle of the long Mishnah Berurah according to Hanahagous Tovos of the Magen Avraham, siman kuf nun vav, siman kuf nun vav. Seif aleph. We saw yesterday the Mishnah Berurah spoke about the mitzvah d'oraisa of big misdabeik to talmidei chachamim. The mitzvah d'oraisa of ahavas Yisrael. The mitzvah d'oraisa of ahavas hager. The love of hitting someone, the love of insulting someone. We're on the third line in the Mishnah Berurah. Kasav haRambam b'sefer haMitzvos, mitzvah reish chet. D'v'chlall mitzvos hu she'lo yichyeh k'tzasenu l'tzasenu k'sheyachtah ish mimenu l'ish. Part of the mitzvah of hoichacha is we should rebuke when one person sins against another. V'lo nitar b'livavenu. Do not bear a grudge. V'lo nachshov l'avain. Aval nitzavinu l'hoichacha b'na'amah ad she'lo yishar davar b'nafsho. You have to rebuke him. So that nothing remains in your soul. V'lo y'chameik umlo y'daber lo kashos ad she'yachli menu. Nevertheless, you should not speak to him harshly until you shame him. She'ne'emar v'lo sisa al ov cheit. Elo yoichichenu b'seiser. You should rebuke him secretly. B'nachas. Gently. Uv'lashon rakah in a soft way. V'ikar dinei hoichacha b'varim yirtzeh Hashem l'kaman b'siman tav reish vav aleph tav reish chof. The primary dinim of hoichacha will be explained later on. Chayav adam l'hizaher b'yisomim v'almanos afilu heim ashirim gedolim. You have to be careful with orphans and widows even if they're very wealthy. V'chol hamak nidan o mach yisom Anyone who chappers them or angers them o yichev liban or pains them o radah bahem or bullies them o yibeid mamonam or loses their money over b'lo yisa asei. You violate a love. The Chofetz Chaim says in the sefer haMitzvos in the name of the Rambam she'unshai m'forash baTorah. V'charah api v'haragti es'cha.
